When you play a game of strategy, like Chess, you must think about each move and how it impacts your other pieces as well as your opponent’s position. You also have to think about your opponent’s potential move and try and see the board from their vantage point. The better you are at this, the better your odds are of winning the game. So think about each moves it relates to your Online Marketing.

What you will want to do is take an overall look at your web site, blog, email marketing campaigns and social media campaigns and determine what is working and what is not working. There are 3 things that you are going to want to think about.

1.Define Strengths.

Look at your site and figure out what is working. You can tell this by viewing your site statistics and see what pages are getting the most views or what keywords are driving the most traffic to your site. Once you have done this; look for ways to enhance those areas. You will want to consider writing related blogs, placing new images or charts on the page, further optimizing content, and posting your updates to social networks like Facebook or Twitter for increased sharing. Remember that these are your current strengths and you are only looking to further solidify them.

2. Define Weaknesses.

Now it’s time do something that many businesses are reluctant to do; but is a very important step, and thatis to look at your company’s marketing weaknesses. You have to find out what part or parts of your Online Marketing campaigns are not working. Look at web pages, blogs, email marketing and social updates and ask yourself “does this help my Target Audience? ”Many times that answer can be “No”, because we post things that we like and not what the Target Audience needs. As in our chess example, sometimes we must sacrifice a piece to setup the bigger picture positioning.

3. Create your plan of Attack.

Now that you know your strengths and weakness you can create your plan. This is the time you need to decide how much effort a week is needed to devote to blogs, emails marketing, web site updates and social updates as well as any other key pieces needed for your attack. Our minimum recommendation is typically 10 hours a week and productivity tools for these activities. It would be very difficult to analyze report, respond, create, and track your efforts with much less time than that. Make sure you make the allowed time something that you will be able to commit to and stick with it.

As in any game, the objective is to WIN. So take some time to think about your blog, email marketing campaign, website and social media campaign so that you can WIN at Online Marketing. A solid strategy combined with dedicated efforts in execution will help ensure that your end game is a successful one.

If you’re having any issues with your game plan let Atomic help you navigate your moves and put your completion in checkmate.
