Ebola virus strikes United States, social media responds with varied reactions
The big news in Dallas this week was that Thomas Eric Duncan, a Liberian man traveling to the US to see family, was confirmed as the first diagnosed case of the deadly Ebola virus. Immedialtely after, the news was filled with stories about the virus, some sought to inform, others to raise fear. Social media was no different, as users took to Twiiter, Facebook, etc. to express their views. Jimmy Fallon, will.i.am are “Ew!”
Late night talk show host Jimmy Fallon teamed up with former Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am to write a song based on Fallon’s “Ew!” sketch from The Tonight Show. The song, also titled “Ew!”, has racked up over 8.1 million views in the first 3 days since being uploaded and is currently shooting up the iTunes charts as the #10 pop song. Looks like Jimmy and will.i.am have a hit!
